Overview

Oplu is leading the search for a House Manager for a VVIP private principal's London residence. This is a confidential appointment at a tier that requires absolute discretion.

The House Manager runs the day-to-day operation of the residence, holding the standards, coordinating staff and contractors, and representing the Principal's interests inside the home with judgement and quiet authority.

In Oplu terms, VVIP means royal households, senior dignitaries, embassy-grade principals, and super-prime UHNW families where protocol, discretion, and consistency over years are a baseline, not an aspiration.

Who this role suits

VVIP tier only. A House Manager with a proven, confirmed track record running a residence for a principal of exactly this profile. Not aspirational, not transitional, not "ready for the step up". The successful candidate has already done this work, for this type of household, over years.

Backgrounds that translate directly: House Manager at a royal household, embassy residence, dignitary household, or super-prime UHNW principal's residence; Head of Household at a comparable VVIP property; Private Residence Manager with VVIP exposure confirmed by references.

Not a fit: boutique-hotel managers without principal-residence experience; UHNW house managers whose previous principals do not sit at the VVIP tier; career professionals ready to step up but without the proven residence-side VVIP record.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day running of the London residence to the Principal's standards.
  • Lead and manage household staff, contractors, and specialist service providers.
  • Coordinate the Principal's domestic schedule, hospitality, and guest arrangements.
  • Oversee maintenance, presentation, stock, and inventories.
  • Hold absolute discretion over sensitive household information.
  • Act as the senior point of contact for all household operations and escalations.

Requirements

Must-haves

  • Proven, confirmed track record as a House Manager at the VVIP tier (royal household, embassy residence, dignitary household, or super-prime UHNW principal). Not a step-up role; not a first move into VVIP from the broader UHNW tier.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a five-star hotel environment, followed by substantial experience in private households.
  • Confirmed experience serving VIP or high-profile private families at the VVIP tier, verifiable through references.
  • Excellent organisational, management, and communication skills.
  • Currently resident in London.
  • Existing right to live and work in the UK.

Strong advantage

  • Additional languages.
  • Prior experience in a comparable VVIP private residence.
